Luscious greenery and lakeside living aren't typically associated with the Phoenix area, but that's what you get as a resident of Lakewood, located off East Chandler Boulevard between 34th and 38th Street in the southern suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona. With homes dating back to the mid-1980s, Lakewood is one of the older communities in the southern Phoenix area, but it's also one of the most splendid. Prices in Lakewood average $250,000, with typical sizes ranging from 2200 to 2600 square feet.

The apartments and condos enjoy public swimming pools, but everyone enjoys a mile-long greenbelt, bisecting the community and culminating in a generous waterside park. Restaurants and shopping centers are within walking distance, as are schools of the Kyrene School District. Two golf courses and several parks are only minutes away, and South Mountain Park-one of the largest city parks in the world-is a two-mile drive to the west. Two miles east will connect residents with Interstate 10 and Loop 202, allowing convenient access to the entire Phoenix metropolitan area.
